PNDC presented at the Engine as a Weapon VII International Symposium (https://www.eaaw.org.uk/) on the 21st June 2017.  The symposium attracted an international audience and included naval engineers and architects, electrical systems and technology engineering personnel, government representatives, heads of power and propulsion systems, weapons and systems engineers, senior design engineers and industry leaders plus academia from the UK, Europe and around the world1.  At the symposium PNDC presented on the findings from our recent naval research programme and the capability of our newly installed Triphase Power Hardware in the Loop platform.  The newly installed platform can be operated in both AC and DC modes, has a power rating of 540kVA and is capable of connecting to devices under test at voltages up to 1300V DC and 480V AC.  The Triphase system is also capable of harmonic injection.  The Triphase system can be operated in a PHIL capacity by interfacing to the RTDS platform over a dedicated fibre link for real time measurement and control.  This platform gives the PNDC the capability to model power systems in real time (marine, utility, and transport) and interface to hardware for closed loop power hardware in the loop studies.
